Konsult Certificate Programme in Fashion Illustration is specifically designed to develop a breadth of understanding of a part of fashion industry
The Fashion Illustration course is designed to build students fashion drawing and illustration skills, using various rendering mediums. Students will learn how to find inspiration and build their design ideas.These fashion drawing and illustration courses will cover all the types of drawing a designer would need to do.
In this course you will learn a vari ety of fashion drawing and illustration techniques and become familiar with a range of drawing material to enable you to undertake fashion drawing with confidence.Students will also learn how to professionally layout a portfolio, using techniques to enhance the design's impact, communicate a design theme or story and create a flow through.
You will learn how use a variety of different media to draw the fashion figure and develop a set of poses. It will show you how to draw the body and face in proportion, to draw hair and skin tones and render garment details and textile simulation. The techniques learnt will also help you when producing fashion design drawings to get your ideas down on paper.
This course will give you the opportunity to learn basic fashion illustration techniques using a variety of media such as markers, gouache, ink and pastel. Working from images, photographs and magazines, you will create fashion figures, rendering clothes, handbags, shoes and other fashion accessories.

  • Understanding perspective - 4 Sessions
  • Beginning a drawing - 4 Sessions
  • Drawing the human figure - 3 Sessions
  • Drawing the fashion face ­- 3 Sessions
  • Colour theory - 3 Sessions
  • Understanding skin tone and shading the fashion body - 3 Sessions
  • Rapid sketching - 3 Sessions
  • Working from photographs - 3 Sessions
  • Fabric rendering -- 3 Sessions
  • Working with different media - 5 Sessions
  • Trade sketching/specification drawing - 3 Sessions
  • Stylised fashion illustration for storyboards, magazines and advertising - 3 Sessions
  • Evaluating your own work - 3 Sessions

Student Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  • identify the difference between a flat working sketch and a fashion illustration.
  • draw freehand working sketches of fashion figures.
  • communicate an idea or concept through a sketch generated by a freehand illustration.
  • utilize basic computer skills in the development of a flat sketch.
  • develop and revise hand-drawn sketches.
  • create storyboards that incorporate layouts supported by freehand illustrations.

A portfolio is a collection of your work, which shows how your skills and ideas have developed over a period of time. It demonstrates your creativity, personality, abilities and commitment, and helps us to evaluate your potential.
When we assess a portfolio, the research and processes you have used to develop your work are as important as the final work itself. We are particularly interested in your most recent work presented in best possible manner.
